NIV Recruitment 2023 notification issued for the positions of Project Technician in various disciplines under the project of “National Polio Surveillance Programme (NPSP)” at ICMR-NIV, Mumbai Unit. Candidates with a B.Sc/Diploma/12th pass are eligible to apply for the position.
NIV- The Indian Council of Medical Research’s main institute is the National Institute of Virology (ICMR). It is situated in the Maharashtra state of Pune. It has several departments. The World Health Organization (WHO) designated it in 1967. NIV is also known as the National Hepatitis and Influenza Centre. Bangaluru is home to the NIV field unit.

Qualifications in education:
Lab Technician (Project Technician-III):
- A recognised organisation or two years field / laboratory experience or animal housekeeping in a Government recognised organisation.
- A B.Sc. degree is equivalent to three years of experience.
- A master’s degree in Life Sciences/Microbiology/Biotechnology is required.
Desirable:
- Computer application knowledge.
- Worked in a research laboratory and in the field, handling blood samples and performing serological assays.
II Project Technician (Lab Assistant):
- High School* or equivalent, with five years experience in a related field from a Government institution or recognised institute, or a certificate of one year training in the relevant area or ITI or National Trade certificate from the National Council for Vocational Training, and successful completion of ATS in relevant trade from a Government recognised board.
- Intermediate with science subjects and B.Sc are equivalent to two and three years of experience, respectively.
Desirable:
- A master’s degree in Life Sciences/Microbiology/Biotechnology is required.

- Worked in a research laboratory and in the field, handling blood samples and performing serological assays.
Age Limit (as of March 3, 2023):
- 30 years as a Project Technician-III (Lab Technician).
- 28 years as a Project Technician-II (Lab Assistant).
- Note: Age relaxation will be granted to various categories of candidates in accordance with GOI and ICMR rules.
Salary:
- Rs 18,000/- for Project Technician-III (Lab Technician).
- Rs 17,000/- for Project Technician-II (Lab Assistant).
